A first for SQI: Synergy uses glass concrete<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Synergy is proud to be involved in the first construction project in the Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 qu\u00e9b\u00e9coise des infrastructures (SQI) real estate portfolio to use glass concrete, an innovative and more environmentally-friendly material. This technological breakthrough is being deployed on the Pierre-Le Gardeur Hospital parking deck site, a concrete step towards more sustainable construction.<\/p>\n

But what is glass concrete?<\/p>\n

This concrete uses glass powder as a cementitious additive, replacing part of the cement. The glass used comes from post-industrial residues (such as broken or unused glass) recovered locally, usually within 100 km of a concrete plant. This simple, ingenious gesture recycles residual materials while reducing the site’s environmental footprint.<\/p>\n

A major asset: reducing greenhouse gases<\/p>\n

Thanks to this innovation, the project reduced concrete-related CO\u2082 emissions by 24%. A substantial saving that illustrates the extent to which every gesture counts in the ecological transition of the construction sector.<\/p>\n
